This is an outstanding book on Elk Hunting. It provides a lot of information in a few pages (~128 pages) and is definitely worth having. This is one of the first books I read when I prepared for my first Elk hunt in 2005. This was a "do it yourself" trip. I did another last year and am going again this year. Of the many books on Elk hunting that I have read, I still refer to this book as I get ready to go.

This book covers the subject thoroughly yet is very short and readable for the person who just wants to scan its pages for an overview. Subjects covered include hunt planning, elk behavior, clothing and equipment, physical conditioning, field dressing and packing out the meat, recipes, and others. The author is very experienced and it shows. I have looked at a number of books about elk hunting but I think this one is the best. I plan to take it with me into the mountains this fall.
