How to Get Sponsors for Hunting DVD Line…?
Question by getsome86: How to Get Sponsors for Hunting DVD Line...?
I am about to buy a 4,000 camera that doesn't shake when you move it for the total outdoor experience. I need good ideas to get our name out there to influence sponsorship. I am about to start a website where you can buy our dvds and pay to go on a hunting trip with us...i think if we propose a buisness plan and how many dvds we have sold we could get atleast sponsorship from a shell company and then hopefully move up to benelli

Hate to shoot down anyone's dreams, but, with as many Professionals and firearms companies out there who already produce their OWN 'Outdoor Life' and hunting shows (INCLUDING Benelli and Beretta), I seriously doubt that an amateur hunting group with a camera would have little hope of even selling raw footage to any of these professional production companies, whether the 'newbies' have any college/professional training, or not.
Check out any of several of these 'Outdoor Life' shows on cable or satellite T.V., to see what I mean.

The Hunting Party
Inspired by true events, The Hunting Party stars Richard Gere and Terrence Howard as vacationing journalists who try to track down a missing war criminal in one of Eastern Europe’s deadliest regions. What begins as an impulsive reporting adventure immediately turns dangerous, as hostile locals, shady underworld figures and a case of mistaken identity puts them squarely in their target’s crosshairs. Amid the bullets and bombs, they discover that getting the scoop is one thing – getting out alive is something else entirely. In the tradition of The Three Kings, The Hunting Party takes a satiric look at post-war opportunists. In this case, washed-up foreign correspondent Simon (Richard Gere, last seen in The Hoax) teams up with hotshot cameraman Duck (Terrence Howard, fresh off The Brave One), and rookie reporter Benjamin (Jesse Eisenberg, The Squid and the Whale) to catch a war criminal. Like an all-male A Star Is Born, Hunt and Duck enjoyed a successful partnership before the horror

Just for selling DVD’s, not making your own show or something, I’d say just go to a company that’s putting these out already, and tell them you have some footage you’d like to sell them. Go cheap on the first one or two films, and if they work out very well, then you might be able to up your price some.

U have to go local market first. Start with smaller market and local companies for sponsors. U need a gimmick something that will be spotted by bigger companies. Ken Tucker’s SPortsman Showcase is a classic example. DO a hunt that no one else is doing. Tons of turkey and deer shows, tons of waterfowl shows but hit the odd balls hunting trips. Maybe a squirrel or possum hunt something NO ONE is shooting and air it on a cable access. THen you need exposure to the bigs. Send a copy to Versus or Outdoor Network. Send copies to Mossy Oak and to Cabelas

When I made video’s I did the smae thing and found sponsorship was needed! So I went to companies of products I used the points I found where that some would be willing to help out.
Questions they asked me!
Do I have any record class animals?
Am I registered in any of the books?
Am I an ethical hunter?
What level of sponsorship am I needing and why?
What other credintials do I have?
My hunting and fishing knowledge?
What will this do for there company?
These are a few of the questions I was asked by most of the companies I contacted so good luck!!
